President Trump Says: “Dominate It. Do not Fear COVID-19.”
Can you truly dominate it as he said?
Hmmmmm, such a bold statement for the situation at hand. Over seven million Americans got infected, and according to the report, over 200,000 Americans died. I have a family member who works in the hospital, and according to her account, what she sees daily in New York is troubling. However, we should remember the words of Jesus Christ: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). When President Trump gave his speech, it seems that he was exercising faith through what Jesus already told us.
I am a Christian who believes in the inerrancy of scriptures. With this, I know that many tribulations are coming to this world. Many will be worse than this virus, but I trust in the Lord with all my heart. I would imagine that people who are of other religious groups must have something to comfort them in troubled times. However, as Christians, we must be faithful to the Bible, always. There is a mob of people who broadcast the president’s statement as careless. These are the same people who sell fear and want people to succumb to the virus in their own homes.
The Holy Spirit Helps Us in These Times
As Christians, we can never succumb to fear. The Bible demands that we don’t; “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). If you are a true believer of Jesus Christ, ask yourself the following questions, Do I dominate COVID-19? Am I living in fear of the virus? Only you know the answer to these questions, and to live otherwise would show that you are a doubter of the Word of God. Like the mop that attacked President Trump’s statement, people outside of Jesus Christ will always breathe fear and doubt. They do not have the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has been the most incredible thing which happens to the Christian man and woman. After receiving a fresh revelation about the Holy Spirit, I understand why it is impossible for an individual living in these times and survive without the indwelling Spirit. If someone is without the Comforter, which is what Jesus called the Holy Spirit, it is hard for the person to function in these times of chaos. Looking at what took place since the exposure of the virus, everything became so confusing. Moreover, everywhere one sees turmoil and misery, it shows a lack of embracing the Holy Spirit. Christians should be filled with joy to know that the Holy Spirit is in them and with them.
Christians Must Dominate the Works of Darkness
Those who are outside of Christ cannot dominate demonic oppression. This includes the COVID-19 virus. Looking at President Trump and his rhetoric, we know that he does not practice Colossians 4:6; but we cannot question his belief in God. Christian must dominate every tribulation the enemy throws at them. It can be in their marriage, barrenness, joblessness, finances, health; you name it. President Trump’s encouragement should not be for Christians, for we should have already made the step to dominate and fear not, as the Lord told us.
Every biblical icon dominates evil. They stand firm and trust in the Lord their God. Christians today should do the same. The only way someone can allow evil to dominate their life, such as the virus, is by living in the world and not in Christ. President Trump’s statement is leadership right, biblically correct and shows strength. Christians must embrace the attitudes of a lion; this is why the Bible refers to Jesus as the Lion of (the tribe of) Judah. As a believer, you should embrace the truth of God and let it dominate your life. I agree with the leader of the land: take control of your life and do not allow COVID-19 to dominate you.
